About the President

Abp. Burke, the head of the Apostolic signatura is in town this weekend for "The Church Teaches Forum", along with such luminaries as Fr. Benedict Groschel.

He remarked that the Vatican is very aware of President Obama's activities, and such groups as Catholics for Obama, and his appointment of pro abortion "Catholics" to government positions.

The Vatican, according to his remarks, regard this as an attempt by President Obama to drive a wedge between Catholics and the Church as a whole, and are quite worried about it.

I think that there isn't so much as a plan to split the Church, as a series of actions that will have that effect, simply because the Ego of President Obama and the cult of personality surrounding him doesn't allow for criticism to be recieved as anything worthy of notice.

But it's a little telling to me that a spokesperson for Catholics for Obama said that he is in closwer touch with Catholics than the Pope.

It's amazing to me as a 10 year Catholic, to see how many Catholics don't realize the Catholic Church is Not a democracy... it's a Monarchy.. You don't get to choose Items 1,3,9, and skip the rest. If you do, you are, by your own actions, removing yourself from full communion with the Church. It's spiritual, ya know. The Bishop doesn't have to say a thing to make your removal "occur".

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (of The always liberal Kennedy family, she's Bobby's daughter) wrote that Obama more Catholic than the pope article. Ya know the rich and famous...they think they can just spit in Gods eye, but honey, they're wrong.
Have you read Wiki on Sol Alinsky - ACORN Community Organizer tactics? I just did & You can just see Obama written all over 'em.

I do think we may be headed for schism in the US, but PB XVI has been saying for a long time that the Church was likely to become smaller, but more pure. Maybe that's not a bad thing, in some ways.
These are wierd times. It's hard to keep a foothold.

I'm familier with Alinski.

Did you know that the Campaign for Human Development, at it's inception, met with and sought the advice of, this guy? That's our donations at work. And, the CHD deliberatly doesn't use funds for evangelization, or to help people--it's all about organizing. I can't help but wonder what the bishops were thinking when they decided to put funds an efforts into this, when it adds to neither our mission under the Great Commission or under works of mercy.

Yes, we will experience schism--but after the schism, Catholics will also face persecution.

I'd heard that CHD had given money to ACORN, I don't much about it. There are some heavy duty lliberal and evil forces right amongst us.
I agree the persecution is something we need to prepare for, I hadn't thought of it following schism... but that makes complete sense.
I do ponder whether I'm strong enough to die for my faith. It's hard to know, while I'm sitting here in the easy chair. God, I hope so!

Dying for the faith is a heroic witness, and one with a strong motivator--martyrs go to heaven.

But what I worry about is am I string enough to remain firm and outspoken in the faith while subjected to ridicule, harrasment and civil disability under the law?
